It is a pleasure for the SMC Student Council along with the SMC administration to bring to the attention of the student body the successful accreditation of the SMC by the ACBSP.

ACBSP is the leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. The association embraces the virtues of teaching excellence and emphasizes to students that it is essential to learn how to learn. ACBSP acknowledges the importance of scholarly research and inquiry and believes that such activities facilitate improved teaching. Institutions are strongly encouraged to pursue a reasonable mutually beneficial balance between teaching and research. And further, ACBSP encourages faculty involvement within the contemporary business world to enhance the quality of classroom instruction and to contribute to student learning. ACBSP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, CHEA.
The student council was a participant in the accreditation process along with the administration in order to help illustrate the fullness of the SMC program as it relates to the student body. It was a pleasure for the student council to be a part of this important achievement in the unfolding history of our institution. The student council is confident that the new year will bring continuous improvements to the student experience at the SMC both on the part of the administration and the student council working individually and in consort.
