It’s almost a year since the SMC Student Council launched the mentoring program. How time flies by! So far the mentoring program has been very successful and we would like to thank those of you who have become active mentors!
The number of students at SMC is growing significantly and with this, the demand for mentors is also growing. Mentors play a very special and valuable role in helping students find their way and stay motivated during their study program.
Would you like to volunteer to be a mentor? It’s very worthwhile and you make a unique connection with other students.
Mentors can come from any level of studies at the SMC. Each mentor/mentee relationship will be different and as long as both individuals come to it with an open mind and a sense of assistance then it will no doubt be a success.
Ideal mentors are those that have experience in positions of responsibility, are mature in their outlook, are respectful and feel that they have something to give. Moreover, it would be best if mentors have already completed a few modules at SMC. However, extraordinary experience outside of SMC may make you a perfect mentor for more junior students.
